The Objectivist Center and The Atlas Society will hold their 17th Annual Summer Seminar conference July 1-8, 2006, on the campus of Chapman University, in Orange, California.
(Note: July 8 is a travel day: breakfast will be available, but there will be no program elements that day).
Featuring: a special report on the Atlas Shrugged movie!
Howard and Karen Baldwin, who are producing the movie of Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged, have agreed to speak at the Summer Seminar on Friday, July 7. They will be joined by John Aglioloro, co-excecutive producer of the film and a TAS/TOC trustee. Because of this exciting event, we have needed to rearrange parts of the schedule. See below for more on the changes. What is the Summer Seminar?
The Summer Seminar is a week of shared values, shared ideas, and inspiration celebrating, extending, and debating the ideas of Ayn Rand. People from all ages, from college students to retirees, come to the Summer Seminar for an intellectual vacation and the chance to take part in a community of individuals who share the Objectivist ideals of rational, independent living.
The quality and variety of presentations at the Summer Seminar can’t be beat. Over the course of the week, 34 expert faculty members will offer 50 presentations covering the full range of topics relating to the theory and practice of Objectivism. There will be talks on politics and culture, art and aesthetics, psychology and the art of living, and, of course, on the history and theory of philosophy. The Summer Seminar offers workshops and a series of evening musical and theatrical performances.
Outside the formal presentations, there is plenty of time for Summer Seminar participants to share their own ideas and enthusiasm in “participant-sponsored sessions.” Or you can take advantage of the sports and fitness facilities on campus. In the evening, you can come take part in the lively social scene of our “common room,” where friendships grow and free-wheeling discussions take flight.
Come join us for a week in “Atlantis,” where the vision of Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead is brought to life by people who know it, live it, and breathe it.
